Math Wall Cards

Kerri here! Okay, here comes my first idea post...
I use CGI Math in my first grade class, which stands for Cognitively Guided Instruction in Mathematics. It is AWESOME! As part of my training, we watched a video of a Kindergarten teacher doing Math Wall activities with her Kinder kiddos. It was awe inspiring! I decided to create my own Math Wall Cards to use  with my firsties during Calendar time. They are posted on the wall and we go through 3-4 per day, depending on how much time we have. The kids use wipey (white) boards to compete the skill while I write their ideas on the laminated math wall cards with a dry erase or vis-vis. They LOVE LOVE LOVE it! And it reinforces skills we are learning during our daily math lessons.
I recently started using them on my SMART board which is even better, because the kids love to come up and write their answers on the board, plus they can see the cards so much better!

Love this!! I have been wanting to change mine! Two questions:
Do you just come up with the numbers to use in each section or do you have a system for that?

Could you send me the document you use for your Smartboard? I have one and little wall space so that would definitely work better for my room!
Thanks for sharing!

I just found your blog, and I'm in heaven. I love everything. These math cards are awesome. I also do a lot on my smartboard and was wondering if you could email the math card file for your smartboard. Do you use notebook software? My email is crystal.houpe@southwestschools.org. I have a website where I have smartboard files to download if you would like to check it out. www.southwestschools.org/Whitewater/1H.htm

Thanks,

I just discovered your blog and absolutely love it! Your math wall is just what I was looking for! Do you happen to know where you got your number line? I have been looking for one just like it in my classroom! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing these cards- they are great!! And for those of us with SMARTBoards, it is very easy to copy them into a Notebook file. (Just open the pdf file, pick a page to copy- under the *edit* tab, select all, then copy. Then paste the image into the SMART Notebook file. Repeat for other pages you want to use. You can even save the pages into your gallery to make weekly or monthly calendar files.)

I have been following your blog for a long time and using your math wall cards. Since we are half way through first grade and using the common core standards, I was wondering if you were going to make new cards that focus on the ccs?
